The first ever Bearfest at Pride took place at Blackpool Pride on Sunday 18TH May 2008, it had a tremendous response, the show was hosted by DJ DaveBear. To start the Bearfest slot on north peir, the show was opened by Jo Jo Savage and DaveBear singing their brand new dance cover of Don’t you want me? that went down an absolute storm, then Dave hosted the Mr Pride Bear 2008 contest which was won by Daren Murray of Blackpool (well done Daren!). The competition was judged by Pc Lynsey Nottingham and John Gavin of Lancashire Police, JoJo Savage, DJ Johnnyboy, Shy – the Tradesbar current cutest-cub winner, and Mark Hurste the Pride vice Chairman, with Daves guest of honour Daniel Broughton aka Mr Gay UK. Then Dave awarded Darren his prize and a bottle of champagne, and the show continued with a couple of numbers from JoJo and DaveBear that certainly continued to wow the crowds… Dave then brought Bearlesque on to do a fabulous preview of the full show that took place later on that night in Tradesbar, these boys went down a real treat and brought a whole new concept of dance routines and fun to Blackpool's gay scene for the first time ever! Dave then thanked all the Pride Committee for their fabulous Pride 2008 and finished off with his popular rendition of Together Forever, the Bearquest show was a big hit at this years Pride.
